Clarins and Ulster Cancer Foundation celebrate Beauty for Life Programme with two Breast Cancer Awareness Month events
Clarins International makeup artist Claude Defresne joins the team at Clarins Northern Ireland for two special events for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in support of Clarins/Ulster Cancer Foundations' Beauty for Life Programme.
For the last three years, the team at Clarins Northern Ireland have been volunteering for grooming and beauty workshops in the Beauty for Life Programme in partnership with the Ulster Cancer Foundation.Clarins International Make Up designer Claude Defresne visits Northern Ireland next month to mark the Ulster Cancer Foundation's Think Pink! breast cancer awareness campaign and to celebrate the third successful year of Clarins Beauty for Life Programme in conjunction with the charity. The programme, initiated by Clarins NI general Manager Lynne Hanna in response to courageous stories of cancer survivors, involves volunteers from the Clarins Northern Ireland team providing uplifting beauty and grooming workshops for women from all over Northern Ireland who are recovering from cancer, at the Ulster Cancer Foundation's headquarters in Belfast. Claude will join the Clarins team on October 20th, for a series of one to one make up and beauty appointments for local women recovering from cancer treatment. "Beauty for Life is about giving a boost to women who have been through a very tough illness and whose confidence may be dented by the physical changes that accompany treatment such as loss of hair, changes in skin and appearance." explains Lynne Hanna. "Three years ago, while on the way to work, we listened to the courageous stories of local breast cancer survivors broadcast on BBC Radio Ulster, and immediately decided that Clarins could do something to help. We devised Beauty for Life with the Ulster Cancer Foundation to help guide women back to a sense of themselves, to introduce a little pampering, a little me-time and to help restore confidence." says Lynne, who with her husband Noel Hanna, summitted Everest this year as part of the three year fundraising commitment to the Beauty for Life programme. "The Beauty for Life programme has helped nearly 300 women in the last three years, but the Clarins team volunteers also have experienced huge benefits from the programme – they have been able to bring some of their skills to help women when they really need it – and they have been very moved – and motivated - by the experience." Joyce Savage, Head of Appeals and Marketing, UCF said, "Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer diagnosed amongst local women with over 1,000 new cases in Northern Ireland every year – that's more than three women coming to terms with this devastating diagnosis every day. "Events such as this are very important in terms of raising awareness of breast cancer and generating funds to continue our work, for which we rely almost entirely on voluntary donations. We are delighted that Clarins and Claude are supporting us in this very worthwhile cause." This year, to mark the success of the programme and to celebrate the bravery of cancer patients, Clarins international Makeup Artist Claude Defresne is coming to Belfast to host morning and afternoon Beauty for Life Sessions, followed by a fundraising Make Up Master class at Ivory Restaurant at House of Fraser, which will introduce the new Clarins make up collection, Palazzo D'Oro.
